The Best Coffee Cake Recipe Ever!

Last weekend I had a great time attending a couple Christmas parties with my husband. The first one was a BYO dessert party and my go-to is a delicious homemade coffee cake. Trust me this recipe is so simple even I can bake it, and I am as polar opposite from Martha Stewart as you can get. It is a family recipe that was given to me by a friend in NYC. Hope you enjoy.


Sour Cream Coffee Cake

2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup real butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 - 8 oz. carton sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Topping
4 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup chopped pecans


Cream butter and sugar, add eggs.  Separately, sift dry ingredients.  Alternate dry ingredients and sour cream into butter mixture.  Add vanilla.  Pour 1/2 the batter into a greased and floured bundt cake pan.  Sprinkle 1/2 the topping, then pour remaining batter and cover with remaining topping.  Bake at 350 for 55 - 60 minutes.  Check at 40 minutes and if the topping is getting too brown cover with foil for remaining bake time.

  2. First of all, I love the pic of you posing with your coffee cake! Totally normal to show off your hard work! And I agree with Carylee- that is a great color top on you. Thanks for the coffee cake recipe, too! I have a lot of favorite, staple recipes for various cookies & cakes, but coffee cake is one that I have NOT found a favorite for, so yours will be the next one I try. :)
